General information

BasketVibe at basketvibe.com (further in this text — we, our, us) strives to protect personal data and users' privacy.

Personal data is handled in compliance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This Privacy Policy describes how BasketVibe collects and handles personal data: what information we collect, how we collect it, how long we keep it, whom we share it with, what rights you have, and how to contact us.

By using BasketVibe, you agree to this Privacy Policy. Please do not use the Service if you disagree with any part of it.

We may update this Privacy Policy in the future. If we make material changes, we will post the updated version on this page and update the "Last updated" date. If you object to any changes, you may close your account and stop using the game.

BasketVibe is not directed at children under 16. If you are under 16, you need consent from a parent or guardian before providing personal data.

How we collect your data

Your personal data (any information that could identify you) is collected:

  • when you fill out a form yourself (for example during registration or feedback); and
  • automatically when using the website and game — for example IP address, browser information, and data stored in cookies (see Cookies below).

Data we collect and lawful bases

We collect the minimum amount of data needed to run the game.

Information about you

  • email address, password (stored only as a secure hash), public manager username, country, and club name;
  • account preferences such as interface language, theme, and match-result reveal settings;
  • gameplay and account activity linked to you, such as your club, messages, feedback, public profile content, and similar in-game actions.

Technical data

  • IP addresses observed at login, activation, and during authenticated use;
  • session identifiers, daily presence records, client environment data (browser type, viewport, device class, and similar diagnostics);
  • when you use the game, your last seen timestamp may be shown on your public manager profile (including an Online badge when you were active within the last few minutes);
  • technical logs needed to operate and secure BasketVibe.

Part of this data is essential (email, username, country, IP addresses, browser/session information). Other data is collected as part of normal gameplay or optional features you choose to use.

Lawful bases include performance of a contract (running your account and the game), legitimate interests (security, anti-abuse, service improvement), and legal obligation where applicable. Where we rely on legitimate interests, you may object as described below.

We do not sell your personal data. BasketVibe is currently free and does not process payments.

Who we share data with

We may share your personal data with:

  • service providers who help us operate BasketVibe (for example email delivery and hosting providers), only as needed to provide the Service and under confidentiality obligations;
  • other players, for information you make public in the game (username, public profile, club page, messages you send them);
  • law enforcement or public authorities when required by law; and
  • other parties when necessary to protect our lawful interests, rights, safety, or the rights and safety of users.

Your information may be processed on servers located in or outside your country. Where required by law, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers.

How we protect your data

We use reasonable physical, organisational, and technical measures to help protect your personal data, including HTTPS, hashed passwords, httpOnly session cookies, access controls, and rate limiting.

However, we cannot guarantee total security — no website, internet connection, or computer system is completely secure.

Data retention

We keep personal data only as long as needed to operate BasketVibe and as described in this policy.

While your account is active, we retain account and gameplay data needed to run the game. Pending sign-ups expire after 48 hours. Password-reset tokens expire after 48 hours or when used. Login sessions last up to 30 days of activity, or until logout or password reset.

If you do not sign in for 45 days, your account may be closed at the next season rollover. You may register again with the same email to receive a new club. Your former club remains in the game world as a bot.

When an account is fully closed or you ask us to delete your data, we delete or anonymise personal data within a reasonable period (typically within 30 days), except where we must keep certain records for legal reasons or where gameplay history remains part of the shared game world.

Your rights

Depending on your situation and applicable law, you may have the right to:

  • be informed about how your personal data is handled;
  • access personal data held about you and how it is processed;
  • rectify inaccurate or incomplete data;
  • erasure ("right to be forgotten") in certain cases;
  • restrict processing in certain cases;
  • data portability, where reasonably possible;
  • object to certain processing, including processing based on legitimate interests; and
  • lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority in your country of residence.

In specific cases — for example legal obligations, investigations, prevention of violations, or protection of rights — some of these rights may not apply.

You can opt out of optional reactivation emails by contacting us at the same address.

Cookies

To provide a better experience in the game, we use cookies.

Cookies are small data files stored on your device by websites for record-keeping and to improve functionality. Information stored in cookies helps you use the main functions of BasketVibe and browse the game more conveniently.

Cookies are stored on your individual device and you have control over their use. You may deactivate or restrict cookies in your browser settings. Cookies already stored may be deleted at any time.

However, if you deactivate essential cookies, you may not be able to use the game, or the system may work worse, because some information stored in cookies is required for the game to operate.

Cookies used in BasketVibe:

  • Functional — necessary to provide the Service. For example: login session (bv_session), selected language (NEXT_LOCALE), and theme preference (bv_ui_color_mode).

We do not use statistical or advertising cookies from third parties.

The game may also store data in local storage on your device (for example to remember your active league or club). This stays on your device.
