Poll: Should academy player potential be visible to buyers?
@grobarbrate raised a fair point: many academy prospects with great visible skills change hands between clubs, but their 3-start potential indication stays hidden. Right now, buying a promising 16-17 year old on the transfer market means either trusting the seller's word on their potential, or buying completely blind. Feels like pure gambling — or maybe that's just part of the game?
Opinions on this are genuinely mixed, so instead of deciding alone, I want to ask you
Pros of more visibility:
- More informed transfers, less pure guesswork
- Builds trust between managers instead of relying on someone's word
Cons of more visibility:
- Could undercut the value of scouting and "send for tests" as an academy investment
- True potential becoming public could push top prospect prices even higher, removing bargains
- Some of you might actually enjoy the gamble
What's your opinion?
